Puducherry to be under complete lockdown on Tuesdays

The Puducherry government on Wednesday announced its decision to impose a complete lockdown on Tuesdays to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the Union territory.
Chief minister V V Narayansamy made an announcement in this regard after chairing the Puducherry State Disaster Management.

Narayansamy also said the government had decided to impose a few restrictions that include closing all shops, trade houses, business and commercial establishments by 7pm on other days. Hitherto the shops and other establishments have been permitted to remain open until 9am.
The Union territory on Wednesday reported the highest-ever 24-hour spike in Covid-19 with 481 people testing positive for the infection, taking the total number of active cases to 2,616.
